National Institute for School Leadership Early Childhood Executive Leadership Institute

The Mississippi Department of Education is working with the North Mississippi Education Consortium (NMEC) and The Graduate Center for the Study of Early Learning (GCSEL) at the University of MS to support pre-kindergarten teachers and principals of pre-k through third grade schools. As a result of funds awarded from the WK Kellogg Foundation, NMEC is providing FREE to school principals and their leadership team the newly revised National Institute for School Leadership Early Childhood Executive Leadership Institute. The Institute will be facilitated by national experts including Dr. Cathy Grace from the GCSEL.  Districts will be responsible for paying for travel and lodging.

MDE program regulations for pre-kindergarten programs require school administrators who supervise a pre-kindergarten class receive 15 hours a year of staff development in early childhood education. This training will meet that requirement.  Each principal from the school should serve as the leader for the school/ community leadership team from their school or collaborative.  As a part of this work the team will develop an action plan to implement in their community to support early childhood education.

Only 3-4 representatives per districts are allotted to attend.

You must attend all five days to receive CEUs, SEMIs, or OSLs; no partial credit will be given.
